Happy October, River Church!

So just being real—the last seven days have been a bit heavy for our little family. Attempting to prevent a fearless toddler from further damaging the gash on his face proved very difficult for me; keeping children alive and healthy is no small feat! But if I’m honest, carrying the weight of responsibilities like this is something I haven’t learned to do very well. A lot of this is rooted in anxiety—the need to control rather than lean into our position in our Father’s hands. where we try to carry the weight of a responsibility in its full capacity, rather than from where we are truly positioned—we are seated in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6). This means we have access to the authority of God, and all of His heavenly resources, available to us at any given moment.

So in all the extra carrying I was doing, God brought a verse to my mind: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”

(II Cor.10:4-5, NKJV—emphasis added). God has perfectly equipped and provided for us—His hand, His resources, His weapons are mighty. He and everything He has given us access to is mighty enough to cast down anything that pretends to be above His authority. There is no exception, and His might is limitless.
