Hello Church,
2nd Peter 3:9 says: “the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” How many of us enjoy waiting? It can feel like a day is a thousand years when we are waiting for something to happen, especially if we are persistent in our prayers and it just hasn’t happened yet. It can be easy to give up and become unmotivated in striving for greater things. When doors shut around us, most times we feel like things are never going to change, like the night is getting darker and all hope is lost. But every closed door is a potential disaster situation avoided. Every “no” from God holds the same authority as his “yes”. A “no” can save a life and bring someone to repentance. A “no” can cause the greatest change in someone’s life. A “no” can open doors. God’s “no” is His “watch this” moment—He will display his power and remind you that He created you and He loves you. God has never been late on his promises, sometimes He’s just waiting for you to be ready.
To make it personal, I had been praying for a new job for a LONG time. Several years and interviews later and yet…same job. I thought about giving up and forgetting about all those things I dreamed of for myself and my family. Then 9 months ago, my wife and I found out we were expecting a second child. The need for a new job that would provide for me and my family only grew and became the only thing I could think about. I kept praying for provision and God’s timing to be favorable. Then God said, “Watch this”…three days before Benjamin was delivered, I received a job offer. God is never late on his promises.
