Hey River,

Pastor said something yesterday that stuck with me: "Try to go 14 days without the thing that consumes you".  I felt convicted to do this, not just for myself, but for those around me.  No matter who you are,  you are influencing others.  You don't need to be famous or be on TV to have a following,  you don't have to be on stage to be a leader, someone is always going to look up to you.  Acts 20:24 says "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." This is not an easy statement that Paul is making here.  He is setting an example of how we ought to live, as though our lives are worth nothing.  Nothing meaning, God should be our main motivation in life, nothing should come before Him, nothing will be more important than serving Him.  This is easier said than done, we like to live comfortable lives.  It doesn't take long to discover that surrendering our crowns is an action that takes endurance and persistence.  But it is necessary if we want to advance in our journey with God and be the example we are called to be.  Pastor's charge of 14 days of selflessness has reminded me that nothing is more important than God's will for my life.  

Now I ask myself: What or Who is my life influencing?  Am I the light of Christ in my house, in my workplace?  Does my worship influence people to look up at Christ and move forward?   Are there things in my life that are causing others to stumble?

We are charged with living a Godly life and being an example to those that are lost.   Let us abandon our selfishness and live like Jesus-completely abandoned for God.
