Hey River,

Psalm 63 says in verses 4 and 5: “ I will praise you as long as I live and, in your name, I will lift my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”

This passage, written by David while in the desert, displays how important God was to David.  He elevated God in such a way that eliminated his fleshly need for food and water.   In the middle of the wilderness, David declared that he will be satisfied.   David chose to praise.   I know this was a difficult decision because when you are hungry or thirsty, it’s often the only thing you can think about.  This display of David’s character reminds me that God is my provider, the one who sustains me, the one who loved me even when I was lost.  God is the one who promised to take care of me, and that is exactly what He is doing.   Like David, I choose to praise Him, I choose to lift my hands and declare that He is my Jehovah Jireh. In the desert, on the mountain top, in every season that tries to distract me and take my focus from God I will sing louder and keep my eyes up.
