Hey River,

This summer our focus as a church has been on love. Love is such a complicated word in our culture as it can mean so many things. "I love pizza" is the same word used for "I love my family." I like pizza but not that much! Paul talks about love in the famous "love" chapter of 1 Corinth 13. It gives us a more defined picture of what love is, at least God's kind of love. In the Greek it is Agape. This is the kind of love that Jesus said "greater love has no man than this, than to lay down his life for his friends," (John 15:13). This is a sacrificial type of love and not self-seeking. It's a love that will always show up and never let you down. It will never leave you or abandon you. It will always see the good in you and not the bad. It will build up and never tear down. It stands the test of time because it is stronger than even death itself. Love never fails!

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.
