Hey Church,
I was reading in Psalms today as I often do and a verse jumped out at me. Psalm 149:6 “May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,”
In this verse we can see that praise can be a weapon. When the enemy attacks us and it seems like he surrounds us on every side, we don't have to wonder what to do- we praise! The Israelites when they marched into battle, they sent the worshippers to the front of the line! The tribe of Judah, which means praise in Hebrew, were the first to go in because God already promised the victory. All they needed to do is praise Him and march into battle with the faith of what he already promised. Paul tells us that our weapons as Christians are not earthly weapons like swords or guns but our weapons are supernatural because they fight an enemy that is spiritual and not natural. He also tells us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. It is a supernatural battle and it can be difficult at times, especially if we don't know what enemy we are facing and how to fight back.
Sometimes we go through hard times and it seems like we don't have the strength to praise or lift our hands. That's why I love the lyrics in a song we are doing this week, Hard Fought Hallelujah. It speaks to the weary soldier trying to fight the good fight of faith:
"I'll bring my hard fought heart-felt
Been through hell hallelujah
I'll bring my storm tossed torn sail
Story to tell hallelujah"
