Yesterday, Today, and Forevermore

What an interesting teaching earlier! Throughout the Old Testament we see examples of Christ’s character. We learned that Adam, Moses, Joseph, Jacob, David, and Job experienced some of whom Jesus was, long before His physical birth. It’s easy to forget that Jesus was there at the beginning, (John 8:58 - Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”) because we’re so used to operating with a linear timeframe. But God’s timing works differently. God was there at the beginning, and He knows our future. And what’s comforting is that He never changes (Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever). While those men were flawed, we see that the character of Christ that they did display is what helped them overcome their challenges. God was still with them even in the Old Testament, providing comfort, strength, peace, wisdom, and so much more. We should be doing that as well: continuing to die out to our sin, resisting what’s evil, doing what’s right, and displaying the character of Christ!
